Position Description

UPMC Western Maryland Endocrinology is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated outpatient team. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care under the supervision of patient care providers, including administering medications, performing IV therapy, drawing blood, and assisting with examinations and procedures. Our LPNs play a vital role in promoting patient wellness through education, accurate documentation, and collaboration while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and confidentiality. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm. No holidays, evenings or weekends are required. Eligible candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus up to $7,500.00.

Responsibilities:

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • One year clinical experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
